OPEN APPLICATION PERIOD OPEN UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

The Sheriff is pleased to announce an ongoing open application period for all Full and Part-time positions.


Positions Included:  Custodian, Dispatcher, Correctional Officer, and Deputy Sheriff.


We encourage any interested parties to apply for any position of interest.


Positions will be filled as needs arise.


Applications will be held and retained for one year from date of submission.

Part-Time Correctional Officer's

The Washington County Jail is accepting applications for part-time correctional officers.


The application period will remain open until positions have been filled to meet the operational needs of the facility.


Applications can be found on this site or picked up in person at the Sheriff's Office.

Full-Time Correctional Officer Qualifications

  

Full-time Correctional Officer

Washington County Illinois


The Washington County Sheriff is seeking a dedicated individual to fill the position of Full-Time Correctional Officer.


Candidates must possess the following qualifications:

     US citizenship

     Between 21 and 35 years of age without prior Law Enforcement experience.  A Law Enforcement veteran shall be allowed to exceed   the maximum age provision by the number of years served on active   duty (maximum 10 years)

     High school diploma or equivalent with additional hours college credit

     Valid driver’s license

     Successful completion of the Correctional Academy after hire

     No felony convictions or other criminal convictions preventing ILPTB

  certification

     Successful completion of Psychological, Polygraph, Physical and Drug   Screen

     Applicants with Accredited Law Enforcement Academy training, State

  Certification, and degrees of higher education will be given preference


Within the 12 month probationary period prospective applicants must successfully

complete in-house field training.


The position will require officers to work primarily night and/or evening shifts,

consisting of weekends and holidays. Overtime may be required on occasion. Work schedule will be subject to change and modification frequently per the needs of the office.

Part-Time Correctional Officer Qualifications

 

Candidates must possess the following qualifications:  


*  US citizenship  

*  High school diploma or equivalent with additional hours college credit  

*  Valid driver’s license  

*  Be at least 18 years of age, 21 years and above prefered

*  Expected to work shift work - nights, weekends and holidays,  

Work schedule will be subject to change and  modification frequently per the needs of the office.

*  No felony convictions or other criminal convictions preventing ILETSB   

certification or training

Deputy Sheriff Qualifications

 Full-time Deputy Sheriff – Washington County Illinois 

 

The Washington County Sheriff is seeking dedicated individuals to  

fill the positions of Full-Time Deputy Sheriff.  


Candidates must possess the following qualifications:  


*  US citizenship  


*  Between 21 and 35 years of age without prior Law Enforcement experience. A  

Law Enforcement veteran shall be allowed to exceed the maximum age provision  

by the number of years served on active duty (maximum 10 years)  


*  High school diploma or equivalent with additional hours college credit  


*  Valid driver’s license  


*  Successful completion of the 80 hour transition course with

in subsequent 12 month probationary period  


*  No felony convictions or other criminal convictions preventing ILPTB  

certification  


*  Successful completion of Psychological, Polygraph, Physical and Drug Screen  


*  Applicants with Accredited Law Enforcement Academy training, State Certification, and degrees of higher education will be given preference  


*  Within the 12 month probationary period prospective applicants must successfully  

complete in-house field training and meet the requirements of residency.  


*  The position will require deputies to work primarily night and/or evening shifts,  

consisting of weekends and holidays. Work schedule will be subject to change and  

modification frequently per the needs of the office.
